General Rules for Riders and Spectators

 

 

 

DEFRA may require competitors to produce their horse passport at any time.

 

 

Insurance companies and equine organisations recommend that hard hats which conform to a minimum

 

BSI standard of 4472 / 6473 / EN1384 or PAS015,should be worn, correctly fastened, by any person who is mounted whilst on the showground.

                                                                                    

All competitors are recommended to have 3rd party insurance.

 

All cars parked at owners risk. No cars on main show field except committee members, blue badge holders and judges vehicles.

 

Dogs must be kept on leads at all times.

 

No cantering or galloping outside rings when on the show field. Riders must leave the ring at a walk at all times.

 

Judges names are not given out prior to shows or events

 

No change of saddlery allowed between phases in the Working Hunter ring. Horses may wear boots for the jumping phase only.

 

No mucker boots to be worn by riders.

 

Practising in any ring will lead to disqualification from the days’ events unless it is a marked / designated warming up area.

 

No schooling aids or schooling whips to be used in the rings.

 

Any abuse of whips/spurs at any event will result in expulsion from the venue.

 

No whips or spurs in gymkhana rings or handy pony classes.

 

No spurs allowed in the novice jumping classes.

 

All Suitability, Lead Rein and First Ridden classes must be ridden in snaffle bridles with cavesson nosebands only.

 

The committee strongly advises that competitors taking part in cross country events wear a suitable back protector.

 

Those riders who choose to do lead rein classes must remain on the lead rein for the entire show.

 

Members must have paid their subscription before entering any class on day of show for points to count towards cups, or to be eligible for

 

members’ awards.

 

The committee reserve the right to refuse any entry or to limit entries to control class sizes and protect the welfare of any horse/pony.

 

The judge’s decision is always final.

 

Any complaints must be registered at the entries caravan and accompanied by a deposit of £10.00, refundable only if the complaint is upheld

 

after consideration by a minimum of 3 committee members.

 

If competitors require rosettes/dressage sheets to be forwarded to them after the event, it is their responsibility to leave a large SAE at the

 

caravan before leaving the show field.

 

Cockington Riding Club Dressage Rules

 

Below are the rules and guidelines that in addition to general rules the club run ALL their Dressage Competitions under.

(if you have any questions please ask – we want you to have a go!)

Riders:

·                 A small whip maybe carried – but misuse will mean elimination

·                 Tests maybe called – the caller should stand behind B or E markers.

·                 When warming up before the test riders must not enter any part of the arena unless there is no alternative – check with steward if there is any doubt.

·                 Riders must enter the arena within 1 minute of the judge sounding the horn.

·                 Riders are encouraged to wear gloves

 

Horses:

·               Must wear a snaffle bridle with a cavesson, dropped or flash noseband.

·               Must not wear any boots or bandages

·               Must not wear gadgets including martingales and side reins. (nose nets and breastplates are permitted).

 

If you require your test sheet to be sent to you after the competition please leave a SAE at the entries caravan.
